ACTION ITEMS: more cardio, less boba
When: Saturday, March 1,
2014, 10-noon
Where: Bair Island Aquatic
Center, Redwood City, San Francisco Bay Area
What We Learned
Coach
Robert had a surprise for us today. The crew’s technique has improved, so Robert
had us paddle endurance pieces to build up our stamina. This shift makes sense
-- we’re getting closer to our first dragon boat race of the season, so we
should work on improving our cardio rates and mental toughness. But it’s hard
to be understanding when your core and leg muscles are burning. What a work
out!
What We Ate
It’s
important to consume protein after a heavy workout, so we went to an old
favorite for lunch after practice. L&L Hawaiian Barbeque is one of the
team’s go-to restaurants because they serve large portions of meat. I couldn’t
finish the barbeque beef plate lunch I ordered, so I had to take some home with
me. We decided that we deserved a treat for toughing it out during practice, so
we then went to Quickly for milk tea.

See
you next practice!
