ACTION ITEMS: rotate more, no TVs!
What We
Learned
Packed boat with two newbies. Mild San Francisco Bay Area
weather. We covered the initial phase of DieselFish’s new stroke technique.
Coach Robert showed us how to stabilize our bodies and how to bury our paddles
deeper into the water. He then provided everyone with personalized instruction. Robert wants me to counterrotate my shoulders more to generate additional
power.
I’m glad I showed up because Robert took
the time to work with me. The refinements he suggested will make a big
difference as we get closer to the first race of the season. I have some time
to smooth things out.
What We
Ate
After practice, we headed for City Pub. A large
crowd arrived right before we did to watch a soccer game. The kitchen had a
hard time keeping up with the sheer volume of work, so our orders ended up dead
in the water. We killed time by talking about the usual stuff – koalas, plastic
surgery-assisted smiles, cities to visit for this season’s away races, etc. My burger
took a while to arrive, but thankfully, it was juicy and substantial. Paddling
hard stimulates your appetite.
ACTION ITEMS: Counterrotate more. Find a restaurant
that doesn’t have a TV.
