Signs of Mutiny? | DieselFish Dragon Boat Team

No! Signs of POWER!

The coach went away for a business trip and left me in charge. So, this happened…

I think I got cocky because the team paddled so well today. They nailed their starts! Also, their power drills sent the boat flying through the water. I nearly fell out.

Our newcomers are improving, too. They are paddling longer without resting. It just takes some practice.

(If I don’t post a blog piece next week, call the cops and tell them the coach did it.)

So Fresh and So Clean and So Full and So Fast | DieselFish Dragon Boat Team

We had a so-so day…

We switched things up and ate lunch before practice. The crew went to I Dumpling to feast on lamb dumplings with cumin (so fragrant), paper-thin slices of tendon stepped in chili oil (so spicy) and Shanghai soup dumplings (so comforting).

We then worked off the calories by cleaning our boats. We’d rather be racing, but this task was overdue. The crew sanded and scrubbed the fleet’s hulls until they looked so fresh and so clean. Grunt work like this goes by faster when you have company.

We then tossed aside our sponges and sand paper and grabbed paddles. The coach said our starts have improved. The crew has mastered the new start sequence and found a rate that is sustainable and competitive. We are so ready for the big race!

Our day together was so productive and fun!
