We had a so-so day…
We switched things up and ate lunch before practice. The
crew went to I Dumpling to feast on lamb dumplings with cumin (so fragrant),
paper-thin slices of tendon stepped in chili oil (so spicy) and Shanghai soup
dumplings (so comforting).
We then worked off the calories by cleaning our boats. We’d
rather be racing, but this task was overdue. The crew sanded and scrubbed the
fleet’s hulls until they looked so fresh and so clean. Grunt work like this
goes by faster when you have company.
We then tossed aside our sponges and sand paper and
grabbed paddles. The coach said our starts have improved. The crew has mastered
the new start sequence and found a rate that is sustainable and competitive. We
are so ready for the big race!
Our day together was so productive and fun!
