DieselFish worked
together a conquered a challenge

WOW. We’re going to feel it tomorrow. My core and leg
muscles are already burning. But why am I happy about it?
Today, Coach Marynka began preparing us for the Northern California International Dragon Boat Festival. She was happy with our victory
at the CDBA Sprint Race, but she noticed we kept running out of gas near the
finish line. Her solution?
Endurance pieces to build our stamina. The coach had us paddle
for five minutes straight, applying maximum power at different intervals.
Every stroke felt heavy. Each gasp of air wasn’t enough….
But we managed to pull through! No one in the crew
dropped out to rest—not even our newbies. I’m pleased they held their own with our veteran paddlers. (Our training program is working!)
Moments like this make me proud to be a DieselFish. We
worked hard together and overcame a difficult challenge. That is what dragon
boat is all about.
If we can do it,
so can you! Email me at dfcaptains@gmail.com for free dragon boat lessons in Redwood City!
